Teams of three to five girls work on building the app and developing a business plan to launch their app. Our program runs throughout the school year. We meet twice a week after school for an hour. Our Story
We want to inspire young women within our own state to imagine a future where they can make a difference with code.
Our first class had four members who competed in the Technovation Challenge. Those numbers grew to 28 girls for our second class. We are looking to expand our program so that it’s state wide starting this school year. So many communities are interested in what we’re doing that we’re expecting over 100 girls to enroll in the program!
We are building an online platform so that even girls in rural communities can participate in the challenge without having to worry about driving to or attending an in-class session.
We are passionate about our work because we believe that our girls have the potential to change the world with code. The Technovation Challenge theme for this year is to build an app that helps a community. To see some of the past work our girls have done, check out our blog.
